Brainpop Adds Leveled Reading Resource

Brainpop Adds Leveled Reading Resource

Though I’m not a fan of Brainpop’s ELL program, I really like its videos (including Brainpop, Jr., and their Spanish-language ones) for Intermediate and above ELLs.

They have several new features, and you can read about it here and/or watch the embedded video below to learn about them.

I think the most potentially useful addition is a leveled reading component. In at least the most popular Brainpop videos, they now offer supplemental reading in three different lexile levels.

I think that can be very helpful to teachers and students. My only grip, though, is with the layout of the readings. At least in the one or two I viewed, they were displayed in fairly lengthy blocks of text. Because of that, if I was going to use them, I might copy and paste them in a Google Doc and then engineer the text.

Also, unfortunately, they only have these leveled texts with Brainpop videos – not Brainpop, Jr. ones.
