I don’t use AI in any of my writing (except for with student letters of recommendation, and I’ll soon write a post sharing my recently revised process for doing so).
I do share basic guidelines to my IB Theory of Knowledge students about using it, though the vast majority choose not to do so (for now, at least).
I think it’s likely that both of those situations are going to change – I suspect that I may start using AI a bit when I begin writing fiction, and I believe that it’s likely in the not-so-distant future that AI writing by high school students is going to become more common.
Given the likelihood of those changes, I’ve got to say that a recent article in The Harvard Business Review, Should You Write with Gen AI? by Alexandra Samuel, offers a lot of good specific advice on how to use AI in a way, as I always tell my students, that is strengthens and enhances your voice instead of diluting it.
