Provisioning for NPAs up 20% in December, driven by sharp rise in private sector bank provisions

In the December quarter, nonperforming asset (NPA) provisions for 29 banks rose by 20% year-on-year, reaching Rs 23,298 crore, driven by a significant increase from private sector lenders. Public sector banks saw a record low in provisioning, continuing a decline for the tenth consecutive quarter.
