Registration and housing are now open for the International Association for Food Protection’s (IAFP) European Symposium on Food Safety, which is scheduled for May 6–8 at the Meliá Avenida América hotel in Madrid, Spain.
The annual symposium, which has been shaping the future of food safety since 2005, provides a forum for professionals in industry, government and academia to exchange ideas and learn about the latest developments and techniques in food safety and science.
Registration rates and deadlines
Early registration rates are available until April 8, with prices varying based on income levels, professional status and IAFP membership. Rates for IAFP members range from €685 for high-income members to €175 for low-income members who register early. Discounted rates are also available for students and new professionals. Non-member rates start at €800 for early registration. Late rates, effective April 9, will increase by €40 to €80 depending on the registration category.
The cancellation policy allows for refunds, minus a €100 administrative fee (€25 for students), for written cancellations received by April 8. No refunds will be issued after this date, though registrations can be transferred to a non-registered colleague with prior written notification.
Hotel information
Attendees are encouraged to book accommodations at the host hotel, Meliá Avenida América, to support IAFP’s room block requirements and ensure the best event experience. The hotel offers an airport shuttle service for attendees. IAFP has also warned attendees about the potential for third-party scams targeting conference participants with false accommodation offers.
A legacy of advancing food safety
The IAFP European Symposium has been hosted in cities across Europe, including Geneva, Switzerland, in 2024 and Aberdeen, Scotland, in 2023. This year’s event in Madrid promises to continue the tradition of fostering collaboration and advancing food safety knowledge.
