​’Spoiler alert, there is going to be a general election in the second half of this year,’ says Rishi Sunak in a response to a question during PMQs from the SNP’s Stephen Flynn. Sunak declined to rule out a summer date after Flynn insisted the prime minister respond to the ‘speculation’ surrounding an early election. The Conservatives suffered heavy losses at the local elections in England earlier in May.
