A new poll just found that sixty percent of Americans wouldn’t support their children becoming teachers.
Another recent survey found that more than half of present teachers say the same.
That’s not a pretty picture for the future.
Perhaps policymakers should consider the long-term impact of this reluctance, and back-off from banning books, stopping educators from teaching about systemic racism, and generally making our jobs so much harder. Increasing our salaries couldn’t hurt, either.
Despite all this, there still truly are many benefits to our jobs….
