I’m no expert, but my understanding that “Task-Based Learning” in the ELL classroom are basically very limited and short-term Project-Based learning-type assignments that also have a greater specific focus on specific language acquisition than a PBL activity might have.
A task-based lesson might also be common to everyone in the class, while a PBL project might vary substantially from group-to-group.
For example, a task-based assignment might be this one where a student has to research a specific Olympic athlete and is provided a detailed graphic organizer to complete.
