I’ve shared lots of advice about teaching English Language Learners over the past eighteen years.
I’ve tried to make it a little easier to access it all by posting THERE ARE TONS OF RESOURCES ON THIS BLOG TO HELP EDUCATORS TEACH ELLS – THIS POST IS A GOOD PLACE TO START and A Collection Of My Best Resources On Teaching English Language Learners (which I have to update).
Today’s “Best” list is another attempt to do the same.
Several teachers, including me, have written short articles highlighting something like the “top ten tips” for teaching ELLs.
I decided it might be useful to bring together links to the best pieces of that genre.
Here they are:
Do’s & Don’ts for Teaching English-Language Learners is an excerpt from a book Katie Hull and I wrote.
The Six Most Effective Instructional Strategies for ELLs—According to Teachers is one of my Ed Week columns.
Teacher Tips for Supporting English Learners is also from Ed Week.
Dave Weller is a non-US based teacher of English who writes an excellent blog called The Barefoot TEFL Teacher. His post, 10 Top TEFL Teaching Tips, is really an excellent one.
10 Essential Tips for Effective Teaching in ELT is by Eva Buyuksimkesyan.
10 Strategies That Support English Language Learners Across All Subjects is from Edutopia.
11 Essential Strategies for Teaching English Language Learners [For Any Teacher] is from The University of San Diego.
10 Key Policies and Practices for Teaching English Language Learners is from Reading Rockets.
I’m adding this post to THE BEST COLLECTIONS OF INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES FOR ELLS – HELP ME FIND MORE!.
