If you care about food safety, then Jim Jones matters to you. A year into his tenure as Deputy Commissioner for the Human Foods Program, Jones has infused the FDA food programs with a new sense of mission and new approaches to greater efficiency and transparency.

The FDA reorganization — a cornerstone of Jim’s efforts — became official on Oct. 1. At an upcoming Alliance webinar, Jones will provide an overview of the changes, focusing on how much has been accomplished in the first month since the reorganization.

The reorganization had its origins in the Reagan-Udall Foundation report, which was released less than two years ago. The report focused on ways to clarify the mission of the human food program and achieve more urgency in preventing foodborne illnesses.

One key recommendation was the creation of a Deputy Commissioner for the Human Foods Program, a post that Jones subsequently filled. He is a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and arrived at the FDA with extensive knowledge in environmental contamination, food safety and public health.

At the Alliance webinar, Jones will provide an insightful update on the progress to date and the challenges ahead. Thus far, his leadership has been instrumental in navigating the complexities of the reorganization, and this meeting will be his first public presentation on the advancements achieved since the FDA reorganization began.

Join us for this exclusive opportunity to hear from Deputy Commissioner Jim Jones as he addresses the latest developments and future directions of the FDA’s Human Foods Program. This event promises to be an informative session for all stakeholders invested in the future of food safety and public health.

The event is scheduled for Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. EST. Webinar event registration
